Advice on Sales and Marketing Recruitment for a Tech Company in the US

Seeking Advice on Sales and Marketing Recruitment for a Tech Company in the U.S.

Hello Reddit,

I’m new to posting here, though I’ve been a long-time user. I decided to create an account because I could really use some guidance on hiring sales and marketing professionals for a small tech company.

I’m wondering whether it would be better to seek candidates with backgrounds specifically in tech sales, marketing, or a combination of both. If anyone knows of databases I can purchase for this purpose, I’d love to hear about them! Additionally, if you can recommend any reputable agencies or recruiters who specialize in this area (recruiters preferred due to cost), that would be fantastic.

I’ve previously tried Upwork, but the quality of candidates was disappointing, as most simply sent over CVs without proper vetting. I’d prefer to avoid hourly payment structures.

My friend’s company is a small tech firm located in New Jersey, and they’re looking to build a solid sales and marketing team from the ground up. Currently, they’re focusing on hiring marketers, with sales roles to follow in the near future. Ideally, they want candidates with experience in tech or software industries.

Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you have suggestions on where else to post this on Reddit, that would help too. Thank you!

EDIT: Wow, thank you all for the helpful advice! I learned a lot from your responses. As an update, I found an agency on LinkedIn that specializes exactly in what we needed—sales and marketing professionals for tech and software firms. We signed a contract three days ago, and things are looking promising! If anyone is interested, feel free to DM me for the agency’s name and contact information. I hesitate to post it here directly to avoid coming off as promotional, but I’d definitely recommend them!

EDIT 2: Hi again! I’ve noticed that many of you have tried reaching out, but unfortunately, I can’t seem to open or read your messages—still learning the ropes of Reddit! Given the interest in the agency I mentioned, I’ll just share their name: it’s “Polyglot Talent.” If you do decide to connect with them, I’d appreciate it if you could mention my name, Sam. Thanks again!

From 360 to 270 recruitment

Transitioning from 360 to 270 Recruitment

Hello everyone! I have an exciting opportunity on the table to transition into a 270 recruitment role at a different company. In this position, I’ll be responsible for managing client relationships, discussing job specifications, presenting candidates, and negotiating offers with both clients and candidates.

The commission structure is quite attractive, offering up to 15% on billings exceeding £24,000 in a month, and a range of 10-12% on lower billings. The base salary is set at approximately £35,000, and there are plans for the company to expand into the EU and US markets.

Currently, I work at a large agency focusing on public sector recruitment, while this new role would be centered in the private tech sector.

I would love to hear your thoughts on whether you’d consider this opportunity.

Thank you!

Subject: Seeking Advice from UK Recruiters

Good evening everyone,

I’m reaching out to connect with successful recruiters based in the UK. With just 11 months left before I transition out of the British Army, I am confident that a career in recruitment is the right path for me.

I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to chat with someone currently working as a recruitment consultant. I’d love to learn more about the industry and gain insights on how to prepare effectively for a role in recruitment.

I’m currently taking a few evening courses and working on enhancing my CV to increase my chances of landing a great position. I possess strong hard skills like communication, determination, and a strong work ethic.

My goal is to make a positive impression during the interview process in a few months. If anyone is willing to share their knowledge and experiences, I would be truly grateful to hear from you.

Thank you!
Matt

Buying a recruitment firm

Acquisition Opportunity for Recruitment Firms

I’m seeking to purchase another recruiting firm. I’ve had positive experiences in the past and I’m curious if any recruiters here might be interested in selling their company.

Please send me a message if you’re considering this. I’m based in the US, so a deal here would be ideal, but I’m open to exploring options beyond that as well.

I’m already prequalified with the bank for an SBA loan. Despite the current market conditions, I’m eager to expand my portfolio by acquiring another firm.

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested.

Seeking Advice on Daily and Weekly Planning for Permanent Recruitment

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out for some guidance on how to effectively plan my weeks and days to maximize my chances of closing deals, both short-term and long-term.

To give you some background, I recently took a year off from recruitment and now have just under two years of experience in contract recruitment. I’ve transitioned to permanent recruitment within a new sector—healthcare—and I’m finding it challenging to set daily and weekly goals. As someone who thrives on structure and clear objectives, I thought it would be helpful to tap into your insights.

For those of you who have achieved success in permanent recruitment in recent years, could you share the daily and weekly targets you set for yourselves? Additionally, what do you consider the key factors in becoming a top performer in this field?

Thank you!
