How do recruiters find you on LinkedIn?

Curious about how recruiters discover candidates on LinkedIn?

As a digital marketer, I’ve been facing challenges in securing responses for PPC positions. Interestingly, some of my peers from the same course, with similar qualifications, seem to be receiving numerous inquiries from recruiters. What could I be missing that they are doing differently?

Advice please: New Desk Compensation

Seeking Advice: New Desk Compensation

Hello everyone, I would love to hear your thoughts on a situation I’m currently navigating.

I’ve been given the opportunity to establish a new cold desk in Life Sciences starting in October. This opportunity arose after I expressed interest in taking on such a role if it became available.

Since joining my current recruitment agency in April, which focuses on Healthcare, I’ve successfully billed over £33k across five deals, including three just last month. I’m currently averaging an additional £1,000 per month in commission, and I anticipate further improvements. Additionally, I bring about two years of recruitment experience to the table.

However, embarking on the new desk means I would be stepping away from this reliable commission. I recognize that it might take six months to close my first deal and potentially 12 to 18 months to achieve consistent profitability. Starting from scratch in a new sector also involves greater risk.

A sales manager I know suggested that I negotiate for an additional £1,000 per month for the first six months to offset the commission I’m forfeiting while I build the new desk.

I have a few questions:

  1. Is it reasonable to negotiate for this compensation?
  2. If not, what alternative requests could I make?
  3. Am I justified in seeking compensation for this transition, or should I embrace this opportunity at my current commission rate?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and advice!

Anyone use paylocitys recruiting platform? Would love feedback

Has anyone tried Paylocity’s recruiting platform? I would appreciate your insights!

Hi everyone! I’m currently working as a contract recruiter, and the company I’m with uses Paylocity for their HR system. They’ve asked me to meet with them to discuss the possibility of switching their ATS to Paylocity. However, I’ve never used or even heard of this system before, so I’m not very optimistic. Any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated before my conversation! Thank you!

Looking for Guidance on Job Hunting in Canada with a Closed Work Permit and Strong Experience

Hello everyone,

I’m currently in Canada on a closed work permit and have gained 1 year of local work experience as a software developer, alongside 9 years of international experience in the field. However, I’m facing challenges in securing a new position despite my background.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on navigating the job market under these circumstances. Specifically, I’m interested in:

  • Networking tips and resources specific to the Canadian tech industry
  • Ways to highlight my international experience to make a strong impression
  • Recommendations for employers or recruiters who are open to hiring candidates with a closed work permit

I’m also willing to relocate if the right opportunity arises.

Thank you for any insights or suggestions you can offer!

Life science industry

Exploring Opportunities in the Life Sciences Sector

Hi everyone,

I posted yesterday about my current agent encouraging me to establish a new desk in the Life Sciences sector. I’m reaching out to see if anyone with experience in this industry could share insights regarding fees and billing potential.

Right now, I’m weighing the option of leaving my current desk in Healthcare, where I’ve completed six deals totaling just over £40K, resulting in an average deal size of around £6,666—pretty typical for our office.

I perceive greater long-term potential in Life Sciences due to its more in-depth nature, as opposed to the transactional environment I’ve been experiencing in Healthcare. I have a genuine interest in the field and aspire to become an “industry expert” in it.

That being said, I’m cautious about moving away from a successful desk that’s growing. I’m aware it might take 12–18 months to reach consistent billing and earn substantial commissions in the new sector.

Currently, it seems that few peers in our office are billing over £150K annually in Life Sciences. My goal is to set my sights higher, aiming for a minimum of £250K annually and continued growth beyond that.

Any insights into the Life Sciences industry, tips for building a successful desk, and realistic expectations for billings and timelines would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! 🙂

Got stood up twice for an interview

Subject: Frustrating Interview Experience

I wanted to share my experience regarding two no-shows for an interview. They reached out to me to schedule a meeting, and I gladly booked a slot. The first interview was scheduled for Monday, but the interviewer didn’t show up. I followed up after 10 minutes and sent another email inquiring if I should reschedule. The only response I received was a brief apology, without any further explanation.

Today’s attempt was similarly disappointing. I didn’t receive any notification about being late, and after waiting for 10 minutes, I reached out again without a reply. Eventually, after nearly 25 minutes, he joined the call but ended it abruptly without saying anything. In hindsight, I regret waiting that long.

Now, I’m considering whether to email their talent department to express my frustration, but I’m not sure if that would come off as petty. What do you all think?
