Thoughts on a 17.5% Commission package?

Opinions on a 17.5% Commission Package?

Hello everyone,

As a relatively new startup, we’re excited to begin bringing in consultants now that our financial situation is looking strong.

We’re considering offering a competitive commission package of 17.5%, which would increase for those who achieve significantly higher billings. Our aim is to attract and retain top talent, and we noticed that the average commission in our industry falls between 12% and 15%. We wanted to stand out from the competition.

Are there any business owners or managers who see potential downsides to this approach (other than a slight reduction in company profits)?

I would really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions!

Very interested to hear how everyone is experiencing the market in the UK – if you believe people selling training courses, we are back to normal. I recruit for in-house tax (manager and above), and am yet to see this (outside of FS clients)

I’m eager to hear everyone’s thoughts on the current state of the UK market. Some claim that those selling training courses suggest we’ve returned to normal, but from my perspective—recruiting for in-house tax positions (manager level and above)—I haven’t observed this trend, except among financial services clients. What are your experiences?

Tech Agency Recruiters!!!

Attention Tech Agency Recruiters in London!

I’m looking for some insights from those in the field. How do you approach acquiring new clients outside of your industry? Is cold calling still relevant, or do cold email campaigns tend to be more effective? How do LinkedIn messages compare? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Seeking recommendations for essential tools and software for a one person recruitment firm.

Looking for Recommendations on Essential Tools and Software for My Solo Recruitment Firm

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to share that I’m starting a one-person recruitment firm and I’m reaching out for your recommendations on essential tools and software that can help me operate efficiently while keeping costs down. Here’s what I need assistance with:

  1. Candidate Sourcing: I’m searching for tools that can help me find candidates across multiple platforms, not just LinkedIn.

  2. Applicant Tracking System (ATS): I need an affordable ATS with basic features to store candidate resumes and a solid search function for future opportunities. I prefer to keep candidate engagement more personal, so I don’t need extensive engagement features.

  3. Cold Calling Tools: I’m looking for an economical alternative to ZoomInfo that doesn’t require a long-term contract. Since I rely heavily on cold calling, I need a tool that can provide phone numbers and emails.

  4. Email Marketing: I’m interested in finding a more cost-effective solution than Mailchimp.

Previously, I’ve utilized LinkedIn Premium (with unlimited InMails), an AI automation tool for LinkedIn outreach, various job boards, ChatGPT, and an internal ATS. My business predominantly operates through LinkedIn, and I plan on using Recruiter Lite and LinkedIn Business. My focus is on tech roles in a candidate-driven market, so I don’t receive many applications from job postings; however, I will use a local job portal for some candidate sourcing and make two job postings monthly.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you have for tools that meet my requirements!

Thanks in advance!

Should I negotiate?

Should I negotiate my job offer?

I just received a job offer that reflects the highest salary I mentioned at the start of the interview process. However, after gaining more insight into the role’s responsibilities, I feel that I may have undervalued myself by approximately 10%. Since the salary range wasn’t listed in the job posting, I can’t directly reference it for comparison. Do you think it’s worth trying to negotiate? If so, what would be the best way to initiate this conversation or follow up via email?

Best ATS

Seeking Recommendations for Top ATS

Hi everyone,

I’m in need of some guidance. As a startup with a small team of 8, I’m looking for an applicant tracking system (ATS) that has a modern user interface and offers a range of features such as automations, kanban view, self-scheduling, one-way video interviews, and SMS integration. Ideally, I would love to see WhatsApp integration and an iOS app as well.

I previously tried Teamtailor and really liked it, but I was put off by the branding on outgoing emails and scheduling invitations that included “powered by Teamtailor.”

If you have any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

What additional data do you share with clients while sending candidate profiles?

Subject: Sharing Candidate Profiles: What Additional Data Do You Provide?

Hello everyone,

I’d love to hear your thoughts on a specific aspect of sharing candidate profiles with clients. When you send these profiles, do you also provide any extra insights or data?

For instance, do you offer information on market trends, candidate availability, or details about your screening process (such as the current demand for candidates, those who have been screened, interviewed, shortlisted, reasons for rejections, or key motivations for potential hires)?

If you do include this information, what specifics do you typically share? If not, is this something you see as a best practice that you haven’t implemented yet?

I appreciate any insights or experiences you can share! Thank you!

ChatGPT and other AI systems

Daily Use of ChatGPT and Other AI Tools

Hey everyone! Do any of you use ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar AI tools on a daily basis?

I certainly do! They’ve been a huge help for tackling mundane tasks, and creating custom GPTs has truly been a game changer for me.

I also subscribe to the MaxAi Chrome extension (alongside others like Merlin, Perplexity, and Monica) which I use on nearly every browser. The summarization feature is fantastic and comes in handy for processing long documents and articles.

Building my own GPTs has been a lot of fun, but I have to admit, the ones I’ve received from an industry trainer surpass mine by a wide margin.

What about you? What’s your go-to AI tool or ChatGPT use?

Best practices for hiring a business development person?

Best Practices for Hiring a Business Development Representative

I recently launched a small agency specializing in legal staffing, primarily focusing on contract placements. We invoice our clients monthly based on the hours billed by the talent we provide.

To grow my business, I’m considering bringing on a business development representative. Since I’m currently a solo operator working from home, I prefer to hire someone who can work remotely. I’m looking at a commission-based compensation model, with the possibility of offering a draw against commissions. Given that commissions would include residuals for as long as clients remain with us, there’s potential for significant earnings, particularly since many placements are long-term.

What best practices should I follow when hiring for this role in a one-person company?

What type of resources and support can I offer to ensure their success?

What kind of regular meetings or check-ins would be beneficial (considering their remote status) while ensuring they don’t feel overwhelmed?
