Recruitment in Japan without agencies

Recruiting in Japan Without Agencies

Has any corporate recruiting team successfully navigated hiring in Japan without relying on agencies? If so, what approaches or strategies did you adopt? Given the strong influence of agencies in the candidate landscape, I’m particularly interested in hearing from corporate recruiting teams about their experiences.

Layoffs: To mention or not to mention in job interviews? 🤷‍♂️

To Mention Layoffs in Job Interviews or Not? 🤔

Navigating the topic of layoffs during job interviews is a tricky balance. On one side, embracing honesty can demonstrate traits like resilience and adaptability in challenging situations. It can also help explain those awkward employment gaps that interviewers might scrutinize.

However, there’s a valid concern that discussing a layoff could raise red flags for potential employers. They may wonder if there were performance issues involved or if you might still be processing the emotional impact of the experience.

Candidates need to approach the topic positively, emphasizing lessons learned and how they’re ready for the next chapter.

In my view, mentioning a layoff can be beneficial. Layoffs are common occurrences in many organizations and are often significant events. While companies may let employees go for various reasons, it doesn’t reflect a candidate’s potential for success in their next role.

What are your thoughts on this topic? What influences your viewpoint?

Struggling in Recruitment

Challenges in Recruitment

Hi everyone,

I’m relatively new to the recruitment field, having only been at it for two months. While I’ve received some interest from potential clients, I haven’t locked in any deals yet.

I’m finding it tough to identify leads, and often the ones I do discover are off-limits because another consultant is already in talks with the company.

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and uncertain about the next steps. With my probation period coming to an end, I’m anxious about not securing a client or making a sale.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or strategies you can share to help me navigate this situation! Thank you!

Looking for voice actors, writers and animators for a fan-made Minecraft film called “A Minecraft Tale”

Seeking Voice Actors, Writers, and Animators for “A Minecraft Tale” – A Fan-Made Minecraft Film!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for talented individuals to join me in creating a fan-made Minecraft film titled “A Minecraft Tale.” Just to clarify, this is an entirely indie project. I initially posted this in r/Minecraft, but it was removed for violating rules, and I decided to take it down from r/recruit because it didn’t quite feel like the right fit.

To answer a few questions: Yes, the main character will be Steve, and the film will primarily be animated (though I have no objections to incorporating live-action elements). Most of the movie will feature CGI, with a few live-action scenes sprinkled in.

I have plenty of ideas brewing for this film, and I’m excited to turn it into my passion project. The film will be available for free on YouTube, released in parts or chapters. It follows Steve and his Creeper sidekick (I know, it’s a classic trope) as they attempt to thwart the tyrannical Ender Dragon’s quest for domination over the three dimensions. The film will be rated PG-13 and will include an original soundtrack—musicians are welcome to lend a hand as well! We’ll also introduce unique lore and characters throughout the story.

If you’re interested in getting involved, please reach out to me on Discord! My username is joshywubbyduck. We’re specifically looking for voice actors and animators who can capture a style reminiscent of Minecraft: Story Mode. If you’d like to see the script, I can share a link to a Google Doc (please note that Act I is still in progress, so there isn’t a lot to see yet). Also, please don’t inquire about voicing Steve, as that role has already been filled.

Additional Notes:

  • I have a Discord server where I can invite you to collaborate.
  • I’d love to animate the movie on my own, but my Chromebook struggles to run animation software like Mine-imator.
  • While the film will be released on YouTube, the goal is to monetize it in order to support the project.

Lastly, the film will likely have a comedy/adventure theme with some darker elements, references, and humor.

Thanks for your interest, and I’m excited to see who decides to join this adventure!

Recent Graduate – Recommend Tech Recruitment Companies

Title: Seeking Recommendations for Tech Recruitment Agencies for Recent Graduates

I recently advised a young graduate to consider working with a headhunter for their job search. I had positive experiences in the past with companies like Manpower and Volt, but that was quite some time ago, and I’m not sure about their current capabilities or reputations.

Do you have any recommendations for tech recruitment agencies that would be a great fit for a recent computer science graduate specializing in software development?

This is specifically for opportunities in the US. Thank you!

Isn’t employee retention a necessity?

Is employee retention truly essential?

It seems that employee retention is now recognized as a key HR trend for 2024.

To me, it’s more than just a passing fad; it’s a cornerstone of effective human resources. Here’s why:

  1. Stability and Growth: Retaining our talented team members creates a stable environment that encourages personal and professional growth within the organization.
  2. Cost-Efficiency: High turnover rates can lead to significant expenses related to recruitment and training. Keeping valuable employees in-house is a smart way to conserve resources.
  3. Positive Culture: A focus on employee retention fosters a workplace culture where individuals feel appreciated and motivated to contribute.
  4. Ongoing Commitment: This isn’t just about chasing trends; it’s about committing to the continuous improvement of our HR practices.

Do you believe employee retention should be a permanent priority rather than a temporary trend? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Need help in cold calling

Looking for advice on cold calling

I just started my first entry-level corporate job two weeks ago after finishing college, and I’m feeling really anxious about it. So far today, every person I’ve called either didn’t answer, went to voicemail, or hung up on me. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Do you keep going after leads that don’t have a habit of working with external recruiters/agencies?

Are you continuing to pursue leads despite knowing they typically don’t engage with external recruiters or agencies?

About a month ago, my company closed its doors, which prompted me to embark on a more independent journey in recruitment. As I reach out to potential clients, I’m realizing that I’m still learning the ropes of sales. I’m curious about how to handle this situation: if a company mentions a policy against working with external recruiters and agencies, is it worth persistently following up? What strategies can I use in this scenario?
