Bringing in new business
Exploring New Business Opportunities
Could anyone share if your agency offers commission for bringing in new clients? If so, can you describe what that structure looks like? Thanks!

One Step Forward, Three Steps Back
Hey everyone! I don’t typically post, but I felt compelled to share this.
In simpler terms, it feels like I’m taking one step forward—like landing a role or securing an interview—only to slide back fifteen steps.
How can I consistently generate income and make real progress?
What step-by-step plan did you follow diligently to achieve high billing numbers, both for contracts and permanent roles?
Introducing an Automation Tool for Communication (LinkedIn, Indeed, Facebook, etc.)
Hello, everyone!
I’m a software developer and I’ve created a simple browser extension that lets you design message templates for commonly used communications across various websites, like LinkedIn, Facebook, and more.
I’ve received excellent feedback from recruiters and talent sourcers who have found it really helpful for crafting templates for connection requests, pitches, job descriptions, and other messages. I thought I’d share it here in case it could be helpful for you too.
I want to respect subreddit rules, so I won’t post a link, but if you’re interested, feel free to send me a DM for more information. (And just so you know, the tool is currently free and has no usage limits!)
Conducting Competitive Analysis: What’s the Best Approach?
I’m part of a small agency that has been around for several decades. Right now, we’re engaged in numerous significant projects to evaluate and improve our business processes while tackling a backlog of tasks.
One key topic that has emerged is the need to review our current pricing structure. We’ve come to realize that we might be significantly undercharging in our market. Many of our long-term contracts involve discounted or reduced rates that don’t provide us with adequate returns. Therefore, we are considering implementing a new pricing strategy for the upcoming year.
However, despite talk of our competitive pricing being lower than average, we’d like more concrete evidence to support this observation. The challenge we face is that contract terms are typically confidential, making it difficult to gather reliable data.
One of the managers suggested that some agencies resort to cold calling others, posing as clients to inquire about their rates—something we’ve experienced ourselves in the past. However, this approach doesn’t sit well with me. I’m curious to know if this is considered a common practice within the industry. What are your thoughts?
Is it normal for salary negotiations to take over two weeks?
I interviewed with a company and received a job offer two weeks ago. The recruiter mentioned that the hiring manager was very impressed with me, but I later found out that the top salary band for the position is $11k lower than my current salary (which the recruiter hadn’t mentioned before). I decided to negotiate to see if they could match my current pay. The recruiter seemed to anticipate some negotiation and assured me that the hiring manager would have some flexibility and would get back to me.
However, it’s been two weeks since then and I haven’t heard anything. I reached out to the recruiter last week, and he promised to follow up by the end of the week, but I still haven’t received any updates. Is this typical for salary discussions to take this long? I’m starting to feel frustrated with the lack of communication.
Is it appropriate to contact my recruiter about recommending a classmate?
I’m still learning the ropes of business etiquette, so I hope you can help me out. I recently accepted an internship for next summer and I have a very talented classmate who is also looking for an internship. Would it be acceptable for me to reach out to my recruiter to see if I can connect her with my friend? I’m concerned that my input might not carry much weight as a future intern, and I don’t want to inconvenience my recruiter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Commission Structure Assistance Needed
I’m looking for guidance on developing an effective commission structure for consultants based in the UK.
They will have a basic salary of around £25k. If anyone could share their commission structures, I would really appreciate it!
Typically, the roles range from fees of £3k to £18k. Thank you!
Subject: Seeking Insights on the UK Recruitment Industry
Hi everyone,
I’m transitioning from car sales and looking to enter the recruitment sector. I would love to hear your thoughts on which industries within recruitment are worth pursuing and which ones I should steer clear of, particularly in the Southwest (Exeter area).
Additionally, if you have any tips on things to watch out for or commission structures to be wary of, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks in advance for your help!
CV PDF Tracking and Analytics Software
I’m curious if anyone is using software tools that help send and track CVs and portfolios. Specifically, I’d love to know if they provide insights like whether the documents have been opened, the time spent reviewing them, or if they were shared with others.
Understanding whether clients 1) open the documents and 2) read through the entire CV would be incredibly beneficial. Since I work in the healthcare sector, some physicians have CVs that exceed 20 pages. I’m wondering if adopting shorter versions might improve my response rates.
Life after recruitment: What opportunities are available?
Having spent three years in recruitment and achieving a billing of 500K this year, along with building a small team, I’m now exploring potential career paths beyond this field. I would love to hear any suggestions or personal experiences from those who have made a transition. What roles have you found fulfilling after recruitment?
