Help please – Business Development – planning / basics

Seeking Assistance: Business Development Basics

Hi everyone,

I could use some guidance on getting back to the fundamentals of my Business Development efforts.

A quick background: I work at an agency focusing on healthcare providers, primarily care homes and home care, rather than NHS or hospitals. I manage four counties as part of our regional market segmentation.

Unfortunately, my area isn’t very established and has become somewhat chaotic due to previous consultants’ attempts and staff transitions.

I feel confident in my ability to conduct Business Development calls, making a call-first approach a priority.

What I’m struggling with is establishing a straightforward method for tracking and updating my progress while having a clear plan in place. Organization is a challenge for me, and I actively work to improve it.

Currently, I find myself inputting data into our system, updating various Excel sheets, and taking notes manually. By the end of the week, unless it was a particularly memorable call, I often lose track of which managers I’ve spoken with, which ones I still need to reach out to, and what needs my follow-up.

Overall, I’m finding it difficult to track prospects and gain a comprehensive understanding of my market.

If anyone has suggestions for simple, logical methods to keep track of conversations and follow-ups—something that would help me remember who I’ve connected with and when to call them back—I would greatly appreciate it. This would also enhance my understanding of the market.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Career Advice Needed

Seeking Career Advice

Hello everyone,

I’m in need of some guidance. I’ve spent nearly three years in recruitment but made the decision to leave my previous firm two months ago—a choice I’ve since come to regret. Now, I’m considering a shift to an internal recruitment role.

My main concern is whether the brief tenure at my latest job might hinder my chances of landing interviews. Should I remove this position from my CV and mention that I took some personal time off, or would it be better to keep it and express my interest in transitioning to an internal role?

I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights on how to navigate this situation.

Thank you!

Call Transcriptions for Submittals

Hey agency professionals! Are there any tools you use to record conversations with candidates, transcribe them, and create a summary for submission? This could really streamline the process and help us get information to our clients more quickly!

Daily Workflow: How do you schedule your day?

Daily Workflow: What’s Your Daily Schedule Like?

Hey RedditNation! I’m interested in how other recruiters organize their days. I’ve been working on establishing a rough schedule to enhance my productivity and make the most of my time. While I recognize that plans can sometimes go awry, I’m curious about how you typically allocate your time throughout the day. Do you set aside an hour for this task and two hours for that one?

I’d love to hear your insights! Thank you!

Job Adverts

Job Advertisements

Hello everyone,

We’re considering renewing our LinkedIn package, but the cost of £4,500 per year for 3 job ads hasn’t yielded a good ROI for us.

I’m curious if anyone has had experience with other job posting platforms? Ideally, we’re looking for something that can distribute ads across various job boards (including LinkedIn) while consolidating all applicant responses in one location.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hiring Managers/Recruiters: How are your video interviews working out? What’s your setup?

Attention Hiring Managers and Recruiters: How’s your experience with video interviews? What’s your setup like?

I’ve been observing the shift in video interviews since COVID transformed the landscape, and I’m eager to learn how various companies are navigating this new norm. For those actively conducting video interviews:

What aspects of your current setup are working well? What challenges are you facing?

I’m particularly interested in the following:

  • How you’re incorporating video interviews into your overall hiring process
  • The platforms you’re using (and how they integrate with your other hiring tools)
  • What changes you’d like to see in the current process
  • How candidates are adjusting to video interviews these days

Having experienced both sides of the recruitment process, I believe video interviews are here to stay, yet there’s always room for enhancement. I’d love to hear about your experiences and insights!

Seeking the Best Sourcing Training/Certs Programs

Looking for Top Sourcing Training/Certification Programs

I’m searching for the best sourcing training or certification options for a small team with diverse experience levels.

A couple of years ago, I completed the SourceCon Academy (at a previous company), and I found it to be excellent. Our Talent Acquisition leader has suggested AIRS, but I haven’t heard much about it in the last decade.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Any recommendations or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Didn’t tell new employer that I’m currently employed

Subject: Need Advice: Current Employment Disclosure to New Employer

I’m currently working at a small startup, but I’ve recently accepted an offer from a larger company. During the interview process, they didn’t ask about my current employment status, and I chose not to disclose it since my previous experience was more relevant to the role I was applying for.

I’ve had to change jobs a few times in the last couple of years due to various reasons, including a relocation from the US to the UK, which raised some concerns about job-hopping during the interviews. However, they still decided to move forward with my application.

Now that I’ve signed the offer, they require me to complete a background check through HireRight, which involves sharing my current employer’s information for verification. This means my new employer will discover that I’m still employed, and I’m worried they might rescind my offer because I didn’t mention it earlier.

Here are my potential options:

  1. Email the recruiter before I officially give my notice, explaining that I didn’t consider my current job relevant enough to mention in the HireRight form.

  2. Give my notice and submit the HireRight form without informing the recruiter. If they decide to terminate the contract after that, I risk losing both jobs.

  3. Omit my current job from the HireRight disclosure. I’ve read that they typically check only the information provided. However, I’ll also be sending a P-45 that includes my complete employment history, which complicates things.

I’d appreciate any advice on how to navigate this situation!

What’s the most annoying part about your job as a recruiter?

What’s the most frustrating aspect of your role as a recruiter?

Hi there! I’m a software engineer who has been actively involved in the hiring process at my last two employers, and I’m curious to gain insights into the recruitment side of things.

As a technical interviewer, I often find it exasperating to meet candidates with impressive resumes but lacking the necessary skills. It’s clear that finding quality candidates is much more challenging than I had anticipated.

So, I’d love to know—what’s the most difficult or annoying part of your job? I’m particularly interested in topics like:

  • Sourcing candidates
  • Following up with potential leads
  • Candidates disappearing during the hiring process
  • Challenges with ATS and CRM software
  • And more!
