Is this Coach interested in me? What is she going to ask in the call?

Is this coach showing interest in me? What questions might she ask during our call?

To provide some context, I spoke with her a few weeks ago about my ACL injury and shared how my high school season went. Today, she texted me about setting up a call on July 7th. Should I view this positively or negatively? I’m uncertain if my injury will affect their interest in me. I have a feeling they were keen on me before the injury, and they mentioned they’d reach out around this time if they wanted to add me to their roster. Thank you for any insights!

Best niche for fast placements

Top Niche for Quick Placements

I just spoke with a recruiting agency representative who managed to fill three positions at a construction firm in just 10 days.

What are your thoughts on this?

Which niches do you believe might provide opportunities for similarly speedy placements?

Am I Getting Ghosted?

Am I Being Ghosted?

I recently applied to a prominent organization in the West for a position at one of their aged care facilities. I’ve had several interviews with them, and each time, they seemed eager to bring me on board. The complication is my visa situation. Right now, I don’t have many options except to wait for my skills assessment or apply for a new visa. I sought legal advice as advised by them and updated the organization on the outcome of that conversation. Since then, however, I haven’t received any responses from them, which is unusual given their typically prompt communication. I reached out for an update this week, but I still didn’t get any conclusive information about the status of my application. Is it safe to say I’ve been totally ghosted or rejected? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

How do I find an agency recruiter and get connected?

How can I find and connect with an agency recruiter?

I’ve been on the hunt for full-time Data Analyst positions focused on Cloud and Python along the East Coast, primarily within financial institutions. To be honest, I’m a bit frustrated with the process of browsing corporate websites, applying for jobs, and constantly updating my resume for each application. It often feels like I’m submitting my resume into a void without any acknowledgment of a specific recruiter.

In my search, I’ve started exploring staffing agencies. I’ve checked out their websites and job boards and applied to several positions that caught my interest, tailoring my resume for each. Some of the agencies I’ve considered include ManPower, Robert Half, Randstad, Adecco, Nelson Staffing, TEKSystems, Atrium, Halo Group, Apex Systems, Kforce, Vaco, Career Group, Gainor, Insight Global, and Beacon Hill.

I frequently see others discussing how they connect with agency recruiters to land jobs, but I’m at a loss when it comes to actually reaching out to a recruiter who can assist me. I’ve even searched LinkedIn for ‘(Senior/Staff) Recruiters at specific agencies’ and sent messages, but haven’t received any responses. This is understandable, as they might not be focusing on Data Analyst roles.

So, my question is: How do I find a recruiter at an agency who specializes in Data Analyst positions for my target area and industry? What’s the best way to connect with them?

Also, do I need to pay for any consultancy services in this process?

Hiring paused after receiving offer

Hiring on Hold After Receiving Job Offer

I was thrilled to receive a written offer letter for a position I was really excited about. After getting the offer, there were several items that needed negotiation, including the start date and bonus details. References were successfully completed, and I was informed that I would receive an updated offer soon. I was advised not to notify my current employer until all conditions of the offer were finalized.

However, a few weeks passed, including the original start date from the initial offer. When I followed up, I was informed that, due to various operational reasons, they needed to pause the hiring process. They expressed disappointment, stating that I was a great candidate.

Has anyone else faced a similar situation? I’m genuinely interested in the role and am considering reaching out in a few months to see if the hiring process might resume. I did let them know in my response that I remain interested for the future. How long do you think I should wait before following up, and have any of you successfully navigated a situation like this? Did it lead to a job offer later on?

Headache finding a role, post interview questions

Struggling to Secure a Role: Seeking Post-Interview Advice

Hello everyone! I graduated from university about a year ago and have chosen to pursue a career in recruitment. I’ve gone through several interviews and felt that I’ve performed well, yet I’m still looking for my first job.

I believe the problem might lie in how I round off my interviews. I tend to get a bit flustered with the post-interview questions, and it seems to lead the conversation down a negative path.

Currently, I’ve been asking questions like, “What would it look like for me to exceed your expectations and targets within the first three months?” “Can you share your experiences working here and what the culture is like?” and “Are there any concerns regarding my CV or employment history?”

I’m starting to feel that these questions might not be the best way to conclude my interviews and may even leave the interviewers feeling uneasy. I’m looking for tips or recommendations—whether general or specific—on how to successfully land a job.

I’ve applied for various graduate and trainee roles, so I don’t think my lack of experience is the issue. I have a solid background in door-to-door sales and over five years in customer-facing roles. It’s puzzling and frustrating to put in so many hours preparing for interviews, only to receive no feedback afterward. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The “peak boomer” retirement issues

Addressing the “Peak Boomer” Retirement Challenges

As a recruiter and headhunter with 26 years of experience, I’ve seen these concerns emerge since the early 2000s. The shortage of talent to fill the roles left by retiring or passing baby boomers is a growing issue that shows no signs of improving. Leveraging this information can be a powerful strategy to justify higher fees and engagement rates.

The youngest baby boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, will reach the full retirement age of 67 by 2031. However, 2024 is anticipated to be a pivotal year, as it will mark the highest number of Americans entering retirement in U.S. history, with approximately 30.4 million individuals turning 65. This cohort is frequently referred to as “peak boomers,” representing the final segment of their generation.

The retirement of baby boomers is poised to create significant challenges for businesses and talent acquisition, leading to:

  • Labor shortages
  • Increased demand for new hires
  • Leadership gaps
  • Heightened training and development needs
  • Changes in workforce dynamics
  • Strains on Social Security and pension systems

Understanding these trends is crucial for navigating the future of talent acquisition effectively.

The pinned post of starting your firm is lacking some financial aspects. We discussed last year and I thought it could be of use.

The pinned post about starting your own firm could use some more financial details. We had a discussion about this last year, and I think the following breakdown might be helpful. I’ve categorized my thoughts into three tiers:

1. Shoestring Budget

$250/month minimum (no office)

2. Good Setup

$800/month for essential tools + $500-$900/month for office space

3. Money is No Object

$2000-$4000+/month for a top-tier setup + $900-$1400+/month for office space and an assistant (virtual/part-time)

Breakdown of Costs

$250 +/- (assuming you have a laptop/computer; if not, add a one-time cost of $500-$800)

  • $79 for Sales Navigator (including 100 InMail)
  • Free or $20 for Loxo or Manatal ATS/CRM
  • $50 for cell phone
  • $50 for internet
  • $39 for SalesQL (email/phone lookup)
  • $20/year for GoDaddy domain/personal email
  • $50+ for cloud storage and miscellaneous expenses

$800/month includes:

  • $79 for Sales Navigator
  • $200 for a full premium Loxo with all features
  • $29 for Grasshopper or similar phone service
  • $100 for internet/cell service
  • $200-$400 for sourcing systems like Hirez, Seekout, or Chatterworks (with email/phone lookups)
  • $50-$100 for cloud/miscellaneous
  • $20 for a simple website and Outlook 365 suite

$2000-$4000+/month includes:

  • $79-$140 for a higher-level Sales Navigator or $200-$1000/month for Recruiter/Recruiter Lite
  • $200 for Loxo
  • $200 for a fully integrated office phone system
  • $800-$1000 for ZoomInfo Premium
  • $100-$300 for cloud storage
  • $200 for training programs (e.g., Next Level Exchange/Morgan Consulting)
  • $20-$100+ for a website with job board integration
  • $200 for Monster/CareerBuilder/Indeed ads

One-Time Costs (vary by budget):

  • New computer: $500-$2000
  • 2-3 monitors: $300-$2500
  • Keyboard/mouse: $100
  • Headset: $50-$500
  • Desk/stand-up desk: $100-$1000+
  • Office chair: $50-$500
  • Misc. office supplies: $100-$300

This is based on my 25 years of experience. When I started my firm in 2011, all I had was a cell phone, a GoDaddy URL for email, Google Voice, Google Suite for email/docs/cloud storage, and LinkedIn (which didn’t yet offer Recruiter Lite). I also rented an office, and my total costs, including the office, came to about $600. Today, the total costs (including office space) range from $1300 to $1600, with the office being $800. Costs may vary if I’m hiring a sourcer who earns commissions.

Since this information is a year old, I would now also factor in an additional $50-$100 per month for note transcription services (like Metaview or Otter, around $20-$40) and a ChatGPT Pro subscription ($20), along with a Merlin or MaxAI type assistant ($10-$30).
