Subject: Seeking Feedback from Recruiters

Hello everyone,

I hope it’s okay to share this here.

As I navigate the evolving landscape of remote and freelance writing jobs in the era of GPT, I would greatly appreciate your insights on how to effectively position myself.

I am an experienced journalist and marketing writer with over ten years in the industry, specializing in niches such as SaaS, FinTech (particularly bank digitization), PropTech, remittances, AgriTech, and business/medical devices. I also have experience in robotics and large language models (LLMs). Recently, I have dedicated my efforts to mastering various aspects of GenAI marketing.

My client roster spans three countries and includes notable names like Google, Uber, AWS, several UAE and Asian think tanks, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I have contributed columns to numerous trade journals and have less frequent engagements with popular magazines. My academic credentials include a Master’s in Philosophy and a PhD in Research Psychology/Behavioral Neuroscience, along with certifications in SEO/SEM, multimedia marketing, copywriting, and cybersecurity, as well as sales training.

I developed the “Deep Web Method,” a unique, evidence-based program designed to help clients uncover hidden leads.

While I excel in creative writing, I have experience across all genres.

Given your expertise, I would love your advice on how I can stand out in this AI-driven job market. What industries might have an interest in my background? Are there specific qualifications I should highlight or omit from my resume?

Thank you in advance for your help!

  1. Hello!

First off, thank you for sharing your impressive background and accomplishments. It’s clear you have a wealth of experience and knowledge in various fields, which is a strong foundation to build on as you navigate the evolving job market influenced by AI.

    1. Niche Differentiation:
Given your expertise in both journalism and marketing, along with your focus on advanced technologies like GenAI, you might want to consider positioning yourself as a thought leader in the intersection of technology and storytelling. This could mean:

    • Content Strategy for AI and Automation: With many companies looking to leverage AI in marketing and content creation, you can offer services that encompass both high-level strategy and engaging content that resonates with audiences.
    • Educational Content Creation in Tech Fields: Your background in behavioral neuroscience could be a great asset in creating educational materials that simplify complex topics in AI, FinTech, and other tech domains for diverse audiences.

    2. Target Industries:
While your experience crosses several sectors, you might find promising opportunities in:

    • AI Startups: Companies developing AI and machine learning solutions often need content that explains their technologies clearly and engagingly.
    • FinTech Companies: With your understanding of digital transformation in banking, targeting mid-sized FinTech firms that are developing educational content for their customers could be a fruitful path.
    • HealthTech and AgriTech: These sectors are increasingly looking for writers who can bridge the gap between complicated tech and consumer understanding.

    3. Resume Tailoring:
When it comes to your resume, consider the following:

    • Highlight Relevant Experience: Emphasize your writing for tech companies (e.g., Google, AWS) and the columns in industry trade journals. This shows your credibility in the tech space.
    • Focus on Impact and Results: Include measurable outcomes of your work (e.g., engagement metrics, audience growth) where possible to show the effectiveness of your writing.
    • Certifications and Skills: Your certificates in SEO/SEM and multimedia marketing are relevant, especially in a digital-first age. However, you might leave out older qualifications that don’t directly relate to your current job search.

    4. Building Your Network:
Engaging with professionals in your target industries on platforms like LinkedIn or attending industry events (even virtual ones) could help expand your network. Sharing insightful content about the role of AI in writing and marketing can also elevate your profile.

    5. Online Presence:
Consider starting a blog or a podcast focusing on the impact of AI on content and storytelling, or even guest posting on platforms where tech meets storytelling. This can serve as a portfolio to showcase your perspective and expertise.

I hope this helps you carve out a niche for yourself in the evolving landscape! Good luck, and don’t hesitate to reach out for further advice or networking opportunities.
