Assessing the Legitimacy of a WFH Job Offer
Hey everyone,
I recently had someone from Impact Recruitment contact me about a work-from-home position. They asked if I was over 23 before proceeding. Shortly after, I was contacted via WhatsApp by someone from the company. The job involves rating movies, with a pay of CAD 674 for five days, plus commission. Notably, there was no interview process—just a direct link to a website where I could register and start training.
Curious about the legitimacy, I asked for more information, and I was given the address of the head office and confirmation that the company is listed on an official UK government website. The person also called me, assuring me that she wouldn’t work for a company that wasn’t legitimate nor recommend it to others. The minimum commitment is at least one hour per day.
However, the pay seems quite high for the amount of work involved. Does this sound like a scam to anyone? I’d appreciate your thoughts!
Hello everyone,
I’m relatively new to Reddit but have been a long-time user. I recently created an account to seek your advice on recruiting sales and marketing professionals for a small tech firm.
Should I focus on candidates with experience in tech sales, marketing, or a blend of both? Additionally, does anyone know of any databases I can purchase? I’m also on the lookout for good recruitment agencies or specifically recruiters, as they tend to be more cost-effective. I’ve tried Upwork, but the quality of candidates has been underwhelming—mostly just CVs without proper vetting, and I prefer not to pay hourly.
My friend’s company is a small tech firm located in New Jersey, USA, and he aims to build a solid sales and marketing team from scratch, primarily focusing on marketers for now, with a potential increase in sales roles later. Ideally, we’re looking for candidates with experience in the tech/software industry.
Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! By the way, if you have suggestions for other subreddits where I could post this, that would be awesome! Thanks!
UPDATE: Thank you all for your helpful advice! I wanted to share that I found an agency on LinkedIn that specializes precisely in what we need—sales and marketing professionals for tech and software. We signed a contract with them three days ago, and so far, it’s going really well. If anyone’s interested, feel free to DM me, and I can provide their name and contact info. I prefer not to post it here to avoid seeming promotional, but I definitely recommend them!
UPDATE 2: I’ve seen many of you attempting to reach out, but for some reason, I can’t access your messages—still getting the hang of Reddit! Since there seems to be significant interest in the agency we decided to work with, I’ll go ahead and share their name here: it’s “Polyglot Talent.” If you reach out to them, I’d appreciate it if you could mention my name, Sam! 😊
The Comprehensive Guide to Selecting the Perfect Recruitment Firm
Finding high-quality recruitment firms in your region is an easy task. Leveraging search engines can be especially useful. For example, if you’re looking for the leading recruitment firms in Edmonton, just enter a search term like “recruitment firms in Edmonton” to uncover a wealth of useful information.
Transitioning from 360 to 270 Recruitment
Hey everyone! I have an exciting opportunity on the table to join a new company in a 270 recruitment role. In this position, I’ll be responsible for managing client relationships, discussing job specifications with them, presenting candidates, and closing deals on both ends.
The commission structure is appealing, offering up to 15% once I bill over £24,000 in a month, and between 10-12% for any amount below that. The base salary is set at around £35,000, with plans for the company to expand into EU and US markets in the future.
Currently, I work at a large agency focused on public sector recruitment, and this role would mark a shift to the private sector, specifically in the tech industry.
I would greatly appreciate any insights or thoughts on whether this opportunity sounds worth pursuing.
Thanks in advance!
Recruitment Connections
Good evening everyone,
I’m reaching out to connect with any recruiters based in the UK who are enjoying success in their careers.
I’ll be transitioning out of the British Army in 11 months, and I’m set on pursuing a career in recruitment. I would really appreciate the opportunity to chat with someone currently working as a recruitment consultant to gain insights about the industry and advice on how to best prepare for a role in recruitment.
In the meantime, I’m taking some evening courses and working on enhancing my CV to ensure I stand out during my job search. I already possess strong communication skills, motivation, and a solid work ethic.
I’m eager to make a positive impression during interviews in a few months. If you have any advice or would be willing to chat, I’d love to hear from you!
Thank you,
Matt.
Acquiring a Recruitment Firm
I’m in the market to purchase another recruitment firm. I’ve had positive experiences in the past and would love to connect with any recruiters who are considering selling their company.
If you’re interested, please send me a message. While I’m based in the US and would prefer a domestic deal, I’m open to exploring options beyond that as well.
I’m already prequalified with the bank for an SBA loan, and despite the current market conditions, I’m keen on making an acquisition.
Don’t hesitate to DM me if you’d like to discuss further!
Invoicing inquiry for US agency owners:
I’m preparing invoices for my initial permanent placements, but I’m a bit confused about sales tax.
As a New York City-based agency invoicing a client in Virginia, what taxes (if any) should be included on the invoice?

Specifically, I need to compare costs in South America, North America, and Asia, as well as in Europe (UK, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain). Any insights or reports would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
