Hello Finance Community,
I hope this message finds you well! I’m a recruiter specializing primarily in buy-side finance, focusing on roles like Quant Developers and Data professionals. While I also cover Machine Learning Engineering and Product Management, those areas are not my main focus.
I’m reaching out to tap into your expertise—could you recommend newsletters or mailing lists that provide insights on who’s making waves in the finance sector? I’ve noticed many founders are active in this space, and I believe staying informed is valuable.
Thank you all for your help!
Subject: CRM Recommendations for Small Headhunting Firm
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with another question about CRM options. After reviewing previous posts, I’ve been looking into eWay CRM for its Outlook integration, as well as Microsoft Dynamics for the same reason.
In the past, I’ve worked with overly complex databases, and I’m keen to avoid complicating our streamlined system. As a headhunting firm with a small client base in a niche industry and region, we primarily use Microsoft products for email and phone communications, and Outlook is where I keep all my contacts.
Since we don’t do any advertising and don’t require integration with accounting systems, our needs are relatively simple. I’m looking for a CRM mainly for record-keeping, compiling target lists (which we need to share with clients), and email integration.
I’d appreciate any recommendations you might have. Thank you!
Conversation with a Recruiter
Hi everyone! I’m a bit unsure if this is appropriate to post here, but I could use some advice.
I have a meeting scheduled with a recruiter soon, where they want to learn more about me. As I understand it, they’re looking to gather information to represent me well for a potential position.
I’m contemplating whether to mention the gap in my resume (from graduation to now) due to a family emergency. What do you think? Is it important to bring that up?
Aside from the job description, are there any other points about myself that I should highlight during our conversation? I tend to get anxious in interviews and sometimes come off as either too formal or too casual.
Thanks so much for any tips you can offer! Wishing everyone some good luck in finding unexpected blessings!
Is Crimson Education hiring for real?
Has anyone here interacted with the recruitment team at Crimson Education? They appear to be expanding rapidly. I found it a bit odd when I received a LinkedIn message from their “COO” inquiring if I was interested in a position. Do you think it’s strange for the COO of such a “fast-growing edtech company” to reach out to individuals directly? I’ve noticed they have multiple recruiters on LinkedIn as well. Maybe I’m overthinking this, but it raises a few red flags for me. What do you all think? Any personal experiences to share?
Which Applicant Tracking System (ATS) offers advanced recruitment analytics and insights?
I want to be very specific about my requirements.
Here are the key metrics I’m looking for:
Does any ATS provide this data?
Attention Recruiters: We Need Your Insights!
As part of a team developing an HR tech tool, I’m eager to gather your opinions.

Exploring New ATS Options
We’re on the lookout for new Applicant Tracking System (ATS) solutions. We’ve been using Lever since 2019, and while it’s served us well, we’ve recently faced some challenges like instability, issues with sending multiple email attachments, and a lack of innovation on their platform. Additionally, they still don’t integrate with Calendly, and their built-in calendar tool feels outdated.
Lately, Ashby seems to be gaining a lot of attention. I’m curious if anyone has had experience with it? It seems like every time I see Ashby mentioned on LinkedIn, the team is right there engaging with the conversation! 😂 They probably have some sponsored clients too. But hey, maybe I’m just being skeptical—maybe they’re truly outstanding!
To give you some context, we’re a team of 550 and planning to hire 200 more next year.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
Advice from a Recruiter: A Candidate’s Perspective
I’m not quite sure where to share this, so bear with me if this isn’t the right place. I was recently recruited for a job in a neighboring state, but I might have been overly optimistic about the time needed for essential tasks like finding housing, planning the move, notifying my current employer, and breaking my lease. Initially, I aimed for a start date in late October, but then the area I was moving to suffered significant damage from Hurricane Helene. This disaster disrupted my plans, cutting off two weeks when I could have worked with a realtor due to power outages and blocked roads.
As a result, I hesitated to inform my current employer about my departure, fearing I might end up homeless and without a job before securing my new place. Just last Thursday, I finally found a new apartment and requested my recruiter to push my start date to November 11. I planned to resign from my current job the same day, but I then learned that if I didn’t provide six weeks’ notice, I would forfeit all my accrued PTO—definitely not what I wanted.
I hadn’t intended to raise this issue with my employer until my new job was confirmed, so I’m feeling hesitant about asking the recruiter again if I can push my start date to late November. To add to my stress, my current apartment complex has introduced a new clause in the lease, which I’ve held for three years, imposing a penalty of $3,600 along with two months’ rent. It feels overwhelming to bear these extra costs while starting a new job.
Given these challenges, is it unreasonable for me to request another extension on my start date? I’m really anxious about reaching out to the recruiter again. Any advice would be appreciated!
