Had an interview a week ago and I think I’ve been ghosted?

I had an interview last week, and I’m starting to feel like I’ve been ghosted.

About a week ago, I (34M) had a 90-minute interview with the VP of Brand Strategy and the Project Executive for a company in the A/E/C industry, for a Marketing Specialist position.

Today marks seven days since the interview. I followed up with a thank-you email the day after, summarizing the interview and expressing my enthusiasm for the role. I figured they might be too busy to respond, given their packed schedules.

Earlier today, I sent a follow-up email to the recruiter who initially interviewed me over the phone. I inquired about any updates regarding the position and reiterated my strong interest. I also shared how much I enjoyed meeting the interviewers and how impressive the office was. I haven’t received a response yet, but I did just send the email about an hour ago.

Now, Reddit, I have a few questions for you:

Do you think I’ve got the job? Is it common for hiring decisions to take this long? I know the recruitment process can vary by company and industry. If anyone has insights about the A/E/C sector, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the timeline for hearing back.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! 🙂

Working as a recruiter in Dublin Ireland

Subject: Inquiry About Recruiter Base Salary in Dublin, Ireland

Hi there,

I’m exploring a potential career in recruitment and am curious about the typical base salary for this role. While I understand that there’s an OTE (On-Target Earnings) component, I’m specifically interested in the base salary as a safety net.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Best regards,

My new candidate sourcing method

Exploring a New Candidate Sourcing Tool

Hey everyone,

As someone passionate about building SaaS products, I’ve come up with an idea that I’d love to get your feedback on.

Picture this: a tool specifically designed to help you connect with developers from your desired region. It would provide you with their LinkedIn, Twitter, email, Reddit, and possibly even phone numbers. Would you consider paying €50 per month for access to this tool? It would allow you to reach out to potential candidates in the software development field directly.

The concept behind this is that developers may not respond on LinkedIn, as many of them prefer other platforms like Twitter, where you might receive a more positive response.

I’m curious if anything like this already exists. Your insights would be invaluable!

Thanks for your input!

recruiting architects for positions in higher ed or library systems?

Seeking Recruitment Firms for Architects in Higher Education and Library Systems

Hi r/Recruitment,

I hope you’re all doing well! I’m planning to transition from my current role at an architectural firm to a position on the client side, focusing on higher education and library systems. My firm has had the privilege of designing innovative libraries and learning spaces, and I’m excited about the possibility of applying this experience to enhance the built environment of a college, university, or library system.

In my initial research, I’ve come across various recruiters who specialize in library and higher education roles. However, I’m specifically looking for firms that focus on recruiting planning, design, and construction professionals within these fields.

Just a bit of context: I’m currently based in NYC but am looking to relocate to a region with a more temperate climate. This move would also allow me to support my dad, who has arthritis, by finding him suitable assisted living nearby that has less humidity.

Additionally, I teach design at a university on a part-time basis and would love to continue that if the opportunity arises.

Thank you in advance for your advice and assistance!

Are things you tell a recruitment agency confidential?

Are conversations with recruitment agencies confidential?

I was recently hired through a third-party recruitment agency, and the recruiter who placed me in my current position has been checking in on me occasionally. She’s suggested we meet up sometime soon, and I’m curious whether the information I share with recruiters remains confidential and won’t be disclosed to my employer or anyone at my company.

I’ve just discovered that my salary is significantly lower than that of my colleagues, which was quite disappointing, especially since I often feel overwhelmed by my workload. I’m wondering if it’s acceptable to discuss matters like this with the recruiter.

Should I follow up?

Should I Follow Up?

Hello, I recently had my first interview for a role I was very excited about. During the conversation, the recruiter and I discussed my past work experiences, and they mentioned that my skills would make me a great fit for a different position in the company. I agreed to consider this alternative role.

The recruiter reassured me that they would move forward with my application for this new role and arrange client interviews, promising to provide updates or details next week.

However, this morning I received an email from the company’s main recruitment account—not from the recruiter—stating that they will not be proceeding with my application for the original position. This has left me feeling quite frustrated.

I have a few questions:

  1. Could it be that my application has been reassigned to a different role, which is why I received that email?

  2. Should I reach out to the recruiter who interviewed me? Is it too soon to contact them, or would it be better to wait until next week?

  3. How can I phrase my follow-up in a way that doesn’t come across as pushy or disrespectful?

  4. What steps should I take next?

Thank you for your advice!
