Hello everyone! I’m currently awaiting my work authorization based on marriage here in the U.S., but I’d love to gain some insights into how American employers perceive international credentials. I’m particularly interested in whether I might be able to secure a position that reflects my experience in the Philippines.

A bit about me: I have built a successful career as a Vice President of Compliance at an outsourced international bank, specifically with Wells Fargo. Prior to that role, I held senior leadership positions at several other international banks. While my responsibilities were essentially the same as those of my U.S. counterparts, I worry that my experience might not carry the same weight here. It seems employers often prefer candidates with U.S.-specific experience, which could mean I have to settle for a more junior position.

Messed up UK Job market

Struggling in the UK Job Market

I’ve been on the hunt for a job for over a year now, and all I’ve received are rejection emails. With only £25 left in my bank account, my faith in finding a job has seriously dwindled. I’ve altered my job search strategies countless times, but nothing seems to work, especially for a recruitment consultant position. Even entry-level roles are turning me down, despite my 5+ years of professional experience as a recruitment consultant in another region. It’s disheartening to say the least.

I really just wish UK companies would give international students a chance.

I would appreciate any insights on how this job market operates.
